Crispy Crunch Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve of crackers (saltines)
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 12 oz pkg of chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Line cookie sheet with tinfoil. Place crackers, salt side down on the tin foil.

Melt the butter and sugar together on low heat. Bring to a boil and thicken slightly. You have to keep stirring this and watch it closely.

Pour the mixture over the crackers and bake for 15 - 20 minutes at 350 degrees on middle rack. Watch closely as it will burn fast. When it buttles and begins to turn brown, it's ready.

Remove from oven and spsrinkle the chocolate chips over the enter hot suerface. Turn the oven off and place the crackers back in the oven. This will melt the chips. Watch as the chips start to melt - they can scorch easily.

When you can spead like icing, it is ready to take out. Remove crackers and spread chocolate chips like icing. Place in fridge to harden. Break apart and store in fridge or freezer.
