Beef and Barley Soup

Ingredients
- 500 g lean stewing beef or soft shin
- 2 1/4 litres of water
- 6 carrots sliced
- 1 onion chopped
- 125 ml of celery chopped
- 3 potatoes peeled and quartered
- 250 g pearl barley
- 1 Tbs salt
- 2 ml white pepper
- 2 beef stock cubes

Preparation
Step 1
Put the water into a large pot with the beef.
Bring to the boil and remove any scum.
Add the remaining ingredients and cover.
Simmer gently for about 3 hours
