  • Cut 1 pound pizza dough
  • 8 hot dog.
  • 3 quarts water
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 beaten egg,

Preparation

Step 1

Cut pizza dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a 12-inch-long rope and wrap around a hot dog. Arrange on a lightly oiled baking sheet, loosely cover and set aside at room temperature until puffy, 45 minutes. Bring 3 quarts water, 1/2 cup baking soda and 2 tablespoons kosher salt to a boil. Boil the wrapped dogs in batches, turning once, 1 minute. Transfer to baking sheet; brush with beaten egg, sprinkle with kosher salt and bake at 400 degrees F until browned, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with mustard.
