Challa Bread (Bread Machine)
This is a light bread with a large crumb and soft texture. Perfect to go with any meal. You can also add saffron for an interesting twist.

Ingredients
- 3 c AP Flour
- 2 1/4 t Yeast
- 2 T Sugar
- 1 1/2 t Salt
- 1/4 c Butter
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Egg yolk
- NOTE: I just use 3 whole eggs
- 3/4 c Water
Preparation
Step 1
- Put ingredients in the bread machine according to your machine's instructions.
- Use white bread setting.
- When complete, for a softer crust, brush with melted butter.
FOR SAFFRON CHALLAH BREAD:
- Take a large pinch of saffron and put it in 1-2 tablespoons of hot water.
(This is called blooming)
- Add water and saffron threads to the the above ingredients before starting machine on white bread setting.
NOTE: This loaf often will rise so high that it will lift the lid of my machine.
