Ingredients

  • 2 T butter
  • 2 T flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • splash of soy sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (or milk)
  • scant 1/4 cup sour cream (or just a big spoonful)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the flour and cook, whisking, until smooth.
Whisk in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce and bring to a simmer. Add the cream/milk. (you can add meatballs, too, if you want to heat them this way)
Reduce the heat to medium low and simmer until the gravy thickens, about 10 minutes.
If not thick enough, add a flour(or corn starch) and cold water mixture.
Stir in the sour cream.
Season with salt and black pepper.
