Muffuletta-style Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 12 " loaf of round Italian bread
  • Deli meats and cheeses, such as turkey, salami, prosciutto, pepperoni, provolone, mozzarella
  • fresh basil
  • roasted peppers
  • sliced tomatoes
  • vinaigrette

Preparation

Step 1

Cut the top third off the top of the bread. Hollow out the inside of the loaf, leaving a 1/2 inch border.

Fill the loaf with the deli meats and cheeses, basil, peppers and tomatoes.

Drizzle with vinaigrette, then replace the bread top.

Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and weight it down with a heavy skillet; refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight, then cut into wedges.
