Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 pound lean ground beef -- 4% fat is best
  • 2 scallions -- sliced diagonally
  • 1/4 cup rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste -- with garlic, or to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic -- minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger -- finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 head Boston lettuce -- separated
  • 2 cups white rice -- steamed

Preparation

Step 1

In small nonstick frying pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
Add ground beef & salt to taste. Cook until no longer pink. Drain fat.
Add half of the scallions, all the rice wine, chile paste, garlic, ginger, and sugar to the beef. Cook over low heat for 8 minutes.
Spoon filling into small bowl.
Arrange the lettuce leaves on a serving plate. Sprinkle the rest of the scallions over the filling and serve with rice.
Take a lettuce leaf, add a spoonful of rice and some meat filling. Roll into bundle and enjoy.
