Mom's Bake Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 large can bake beans
  • 1 Tbls. vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Karo Syrup (light or dark)
  • brown sugar
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • ketchup
  • mustard
  • 1/2 lb. bacon and bacon fat

Preparation

Step 1

Pour bake beans into heavy duty pan. Mix in vinegar, chopped onion, and syrup. Stir well. To taste; add brown sugar, ketchup and mustard. Cook bacon until crispy. Chop bacon and add to bake beans. Add 1-2 Tbps. bacon fat to bake beans. Transfer to casserole dish and back for 45 minutes or until bubbly.
