Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds beef brisket
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 onion, roughly sliced
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 (12 ounce) can beer
  • Flour to thicken sauce, optional

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Trim brisket of excess fat and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Line a 9x13 inch pan with enough aluminum foil to wrap around the top of the brisket. Place brisket in the pan and cover with onion slices.

Combine chili sauce, garlic, brown sugar, and beer in a medium bowl. Pour mixture over meat and onions. Wrap meat in foil. Roast for 4 hours or until tender.

Remove brisket from pan. Add flour to the sauce and drippings if desired and heat and stir on the stovetop to thicken. Slice brisket.
