  • 6 tblsp unsalted butter, softened and divided
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar, divided
  • Grated peel of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 6 tblsp flour
  • 8 egg yolks
  • 6 tblsp orange flavored liqueur
  • 1 tblsp vanilla extract
  • 10 egg whites
  • 1 tsp salt



Step 1

Butter inside of Crock Pot slow cooker with 2 tablespoons butter. Pour in 1/3 cup sugar; turn to evenly boat bottom and sides of slow cooker.

Place 2/3 cup sugar and orange peel in food processor or blender; process until orange peel is evenly ground and well combined.

Whisk milk and flour in medium saucepan. Whisk in orange sugar; cook and stir over medium heat until just beginning to thicken. Bring to a boil over high heat; cook and stir 30 seconds. Remove from heat. Let mixture cool slightly; beat in egg yolks, one at a time, Add orange liqueur, remaining 4 tablespoons butter and vanilla to egg yolk mixture; let stand at room temperature 20 minutes to cool.

Beat egg whites in clean, dry bowl until foamy. Add salt, beat to soft peaks. Sprinkle in remaining ¼ cup sugar; beat to stiff peaks. Fold on quarter of beaten egg whites into cooled batter. Fold in remaining egg whites; gently remove to slow cooker. Cover; cook on High 1 hour or until soufflé is fully set. Serve immediately.
