Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz Package of Caramels
  • 1/3 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 1 18 oz German Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 3/4 cup Butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 8 oz Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Walnuts, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in a double boiler. Stir until caramels are completely melted and re-moved from heat.

In a large bowl combine cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup evaported milk; mix well.

Divide cake mixture in half. Press half the dough in a greased 9x13" baking pan. Bake in preheated 350 deg oven for 6 minutes. Remove from oven.

Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over bottom layer. Then spread caramel mixture over chips and nuts.

Crumble remaining cake mixture over caramel mixture and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes. Cool and then chill for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator before cutting into bars.
