Ingredients
- 1/4 lb. of butter and shortening mixed
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 4 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 box seedless golden raisins
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease and flour 2 loaf pans
Wash raisins in colander and let dry. Cream sugar and butter mixture until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Mix dry ingredients together. Alternate dry ingredients with milk; starting with flour and ending with flour. Sprinkle dried raisins with a little flour then stir with nuts (optional) into cake mixture. Pour into prepared loaf pans.
Bake for approx. 1 hour or until tester comes out clean.
