- OPTIONAL GARNISHES:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cups chopped heirloom tomatoes (or cherry tomatoes cut into bite-sized pieces or with cherry tomatoes, halved)
- 2 tablespoons capers, drained
- 2/3 cup halved or chopped black or kalamata olives
- 1/2 cup slivered fresh basil
- salt and pepper to taste
- pasta of your choice
- grated fresh Parmesan slivers or feta
- 3 tablespoons minced fresh flat-leafed parsley
- grilled or browned mild sausage or bratwurst links, cut into bite-sized coins
