Bread - Pumpkin Pull-Apart Loaf

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tea. salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped, peeled apples
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tea. apple pie spice
  • 1 recipe Creamy Icing
  • CREAMY ICING
  • 2 oz. softened cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tea. vanilla
  • 2-3 Tbsp. milk

Preparation

Step 1

In a small saucepan, heat milk just until ware (105 to 115 degrees). In a larghe3 owl combine warm milk and yeast; stir until yeast is dissolved. Let stand 5 minutes.

Add next four ingredients (through salt) to yeast mixture. Beat with a mixer on medium until combined. Add half of the flour; beat on low 30 seconds, scraping bowl as needed. Beat 3 minutes on medium. Stir in the remaining four. Shape dough into a ball (dough will not be smooth). Place dough in a greased bowl; turn once to grease surface. Cover and let rise in a warm place until nearly double in size (45-60 minutes).

Grease a 9x5 loaf pan. turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll dough into a 20x12" rectangle. Brush with the 1/4 cup melted butter. Sprinkle with apples, brown sugar, and apple pie spice. cut rectangle in half lengthwise to make two 20x6" pieces; cut each piece crosswise into five 6x4" strips each. Cut each stack into 4x2" pieces. Loosely stagger pieces in pan, cut sides up. Cover; let rise in a warm place until nearly double in size (40-45 minutes).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake about 45 minutes or until golden brown and an instant-read thermometer registers 200 degrees. Cool 10 minutes. Remove loaf to serving plate. Cool 20 minutes more. Drizzle with Creamy Icing


CREAMY ICING
Beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla on medium until smooth. Beat in enough milk to make a drizzling consistency.
