Ingredients
- Margarita:
- 3 ounces tequila
- 2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- 1/2 to 1 tsp orange liquor
- 1 Tbsp lime-salt-sugar
- Simple syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- Lime-salt-sugar:
- Zest one lime
- 2 Tbsp kosher salt
- 2 Tbsp sugar

To make the margarita:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup and orange liquor. Cover, and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds. Spread lime-salt-sugar on a plate. Moisten the rim of a chilled rocks or wine glass and press into mixture to rim edge. Strain margarita into glass.
For the simple syrup:
Place sugar and water in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool. Store in a sealed container in refrigerator for up to 1 month.
Lime-salt-sugar:
Blend zest, salt, and sugar together in a small blender or mini-food chopper. Use immediately.
