Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2-1 Tbs. crushed red pepper
  • 2 basil sprigs

Preparation

Step 1

Warm oil & garlic in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Stir in tomatoes, salt, sugar basil & red pepper. Simmer uncovered until thickened, about 15 minutes. Remove basil.

Variation:
Creamy Vodka Sauce: Add 1/2 cup vodka with tomatoes & stir in 1/2 cup heavy cream during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
