Ingredients

  • 3.5 lbs. flat iron or skirt steak, sliced thin
  • .5 cup sesame seeds
  • 1.25 cups soy sauce
  • .5 cup sugar
  • 2 bunches green onions, chopped
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • .5 cup sesame oil
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • black pepper to taste (2-3 tsp)

Preparation

Step 1

Put beef in large Ziplock bag or bowl.
Toast sesame seeds over medium heat until browned.
Combine sesame seeds, soy sauce, sugar, 1 bunch chopped green onions, garlic, sesame oil, crushed red pepper and black pepper.
Pour soy sauce mixture over beef and refrigerate 8+ hours.
Grill marinated beef ~2 minutes per side (should start to show char marks).
Note: I had to wipe down my pan every other batch to prevent burning sugar from setting off my smoke alarms. If you do this while the pan is hot, it's really easy!
Serve on top of rice. Garnish with green onion.
