Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
  • 3/4 c. coarsely chopped maraschino cherries
  • 2 c. (12 oz. package) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
In a large bowl combine, butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and maraschino cherry juice (from the jar of maraschino cherries); beat until creamy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in eggs.
Gradually add the flour mixture; mix until combined. Stir in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove pan from the oven and let the cookies stand on the pan for about a minute before removing to a cooling rack.
