From Reader's Digest
- 4 hamburger bun tops
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small red onion (1/2 diced, 1/2 sliced)
- 1/2 cup dill pickles, diced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 T yellow mustard
- 8 cups sliced romaine lettuce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 plum tomatoes, chopped
Preheat oven to 425.
Slice bun tops into 1/4 inch strips. Arrange in single layer on baking sheet.
Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly toasted.
Remove and cool.
Cook ground beef in saute pan. 5-7 minutes - until no longer pink.
In a large bowl, combine diced onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard.
Add beef and mix well.
Arrange lettuce on plates. Spoon beef mixture over lettuce.
Top with cheese, tomatoes and sliced onion.
Arrange bun-croutons around the edges.
