Ingredients

  • 2 1/2

    cups all-purpose flour

  • 2

    tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 4

    teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/4

    teaspoon salt

  • 1/3

    cup butter, cut into pieces

  • 2

    eggs beaten

  • 3/4

    whipping cream

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2

    cup mini chocolate chips

  • Sparkling White Sugar

Directions

Preheat over to 400 degrees. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in medium bowl. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly(coarse crumbs). Make a well in the center or dry mixture, set aside. Combine eggs, whipping cream, vanilla and chocolate chips in a medium bowl. Add egg mixture all at once to dry mixture. Stir just until moistened. Drop on baking stone...makes 12 scones. Brush scones with milk and sprinkle Sparkling Sugar. Bake 17-18 minutes or until golden. To make orange cranberry...zest 1-2 oranges and add to liquid mixture and replace choc chips with dried cranberries or mixed berries.
