Southern Fried Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Slap Ya Momma's
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • Dash of dried red pepper flakes

Preparation

Step 1

Chop bacon and cook until fat is rendered. Add 2 tablespoons butter and onion and saute 4 minutes. Add a splash of water to deglaze. Add half cabbage, salt and pepper and Slap ya momma's and stir. Add rest of cabbage, stir. Cover and cook about 30 minutes stirring several times. Stir in the remaining butter and vinegar. Taste and adjust seasonings.
