PIE CRUST WITH SHORTENING

Got this from Crisco ... I hve always used lard... but like this SHORT crust.. it's a bit flakier...

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup Crisco Shortening
  • 5-10 tbsp ice cold water or milk

Preparation

Step 1

Combine salt and flour. Cut in shortening with pastry blender till it resembles oatmeal. Sprinkle liquid over mixture and toss gently with a fork and push to the side of the bowl till combined and can be formed into a bowl. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate 30 minutes. Soften for about 5 minutes before working the dough.
