Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups softened butter
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon baking sofa
- Decorator frosting

Step 1
Cream butter and sugar; add egg. Beat until light and fluffy. Stir flour with spices and sofa; add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Cover; chill until firm, about 2 hours.
On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 until lightly browned, about 8 to 10 minutes.
Can be sprinkled with sugar or frosted.
