Rice: Easy Yellow Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups long grain white rice (use 2 scoops rice for rice maker)
  • 4 cups water (use enough water to reach 2 level in rice maker)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon
  • frozen peas, thawed
  • shredded carrot, optional
  • chopped chives or green onions for garnish

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a medium saucepan combine butter, turmeric and cumin. Saute on medium heat until butter is melted and lightly foaming, while stirring it with the spices. Add rice and stir until the rice is completely coated with the spice mixture.
2. Pour rice mixture in rice cooker and add enough water to reach 2 level. Add bullion and salt and set rice cooker. If using stovetop, add water, boullion and salt and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until water is completely absorbed about 25 minutes. Turn off heat and let sit for 5 minutes. Serve warm with peas, carrots chives or scallions.
