Ingredients
- 4 med russets, peeled, sliced thinly
- 1 med onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 pt cream or half and half
- 1/2 lb cheddar, grated
- 3 Tbsp flour
Preparation
Step 1
Sauté onion in butter until golden. Add cream and boil until thickened to the point where it coats a spoon. Remove sauce from heat and add 2 cups of cheese and stir until melted. Put 1/3 of potatoes into a casserole in a layer. Pour 1/3 of sauce over potatoes and sprinkle a Tbsp of flour over it. Repeat layer of potatoes, sauce, and flour two times. Bake for about 55 minutes at 350° f or until potatoes are tender. Top dish with a generous amount of cheese and return to oven until melted and slightly browned.
