Sour Patch Pink Lemonade Cookies
By srumbel
Duncan Hines Frosting Creations are seriously my new favorite baking tool. I LOVE how intense and realistic their flavors are — perfect for jazzing up a basic cake-mix cookie into something sweet, tart and truly amazing! And the pink lemonade-flavored frosting is that perfect hint of sweetness when eaten with those chewy, sour candies. Sour candy lovers everywhere will flip for these!

Ingredients
- 1 box Duncan Hines white cake mix
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp pure lemon extract
- 2 pkts Duncan Hines Frosting Creations in Pink Lemonade, divided
- 1 container Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Frosting Starter
- 1 pkg. Sour Patch Kids candy
- White sugar, optional
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with silicone liners or mist lightly with cooking spray; set aside.
2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, oil, egg, lemon extract & ONE packet of the Pink Lemonade flavor mix with a rubber spatula until a soft dough forms. Drop heaping Tablespoonfuls of rounded dough onto the baking sheets, about 1″ apart. Bake for approx. 10 minutes, rotating pans halfway through baking time. Cool on the sheets about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
3. Next, blend the remaining Pink Lemonade flavor mix into the Frosting Starter until thoroughly mixed. Spread the frosting onto the tops of the cooled cookies. Garnish the frosted cookies with the Sour Patch candies (I made little flowers out of mine!) and sprinkle lightly with sugar, if you’d like. Makes about 24 cookies.
