  • 1 1/2 cups white rice
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • Dash fresh pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 1/2 cups boiling water
  • Additional butter.



Step 1

In a 1 1/2 quart uncreased casserole dish with tight fitting lid (use foil to cover casserole dish and also cover with a lid to ensure a tight seal), combine rice, salt, and pepper. Dot with butter and pour boiling water in, and stir until butter is melted. Cover and bak in a 350 oven for 45 minutes. No peeking or stirring.

Fluff up lightly before serving and mix in generous amounts of butter to taste.

If you double the recipe, you do not double the cooking time.
