Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups sifted flour (sift, then measure)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 5 egg yolks plus 1 whole egg (place egg whites in a 2 qt. pan to cook later)
  • Jar of black current preserves

Step 1

Sift together flour & sugar. Add butter and work well with hands. Will resemble pie crust. Make a center in the mixture, and add eggs. Work with hands until mixture leaves sides of bowl. Knead well until mixture is smooth.
