Ingredients
- 1/2 c. Milk
- 3 Tbs. Sugar
- 2 teas. Salt
- 3 Tbs. Butter
- Dissolve 1 pkg. Yeast in 1 1/2 c. warm water, (105°-115°f)
- 3 c. Unsifted flour
Preparation
Step 1
Scald the milk; stir in sugar, salt and butter. Cool to lukewarm. Add milk mixture and unsifted flour to yeast mixture; beat until smooth. Stir in enough flour (1/2 to 1 cup more) to make stiff dough. Onto floured surface, knead 8-10 mins. Place in greased bowl, grease top. Cover, let rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch down. Divide into 2 equal pieces; cut 1 piece in half and 1 piece into 14 pieces, shape first half into 2 large balls for bodies. The second half shape into 2 medium balls for heads. Flatten slightly. Pinch seams. Use the rest of the dough shaped into small balls for arms, feet, noses and ears. Cover. Let rise until doubled, about 1 hr, make indentation in ears. Place raisins for eyes & belly button. Mix egg and 1 t. water, brush on bears. Bake at 400°f 25-30 mins. Cool
