Mackinaw Island Fudge

Ingredients

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate bits
  • 3 bars (4 ounces each) German sweet chocolate, broken
  • 1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

In large bowl, combine chocolate bits, German chocolate pieces, marshmallow and nuts; set aside. In large saucepan, combine sugar, salt, butter and milk; cook over medium heat until boiling, stirring constantly. boil six minutes, stirring frequently. Pour immediately over chocolate mixture and add vanilla. Stir vigorously with wooden spoon until chocolate is melted and mixture is creamy. Pour at once into buttered 9x13-inch pan and let stand several hours at room temperature until hardened. Cut into squares and store in tightly covered container.
