Ingredients
- 1 yeast cake (1tbsp)
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 1/2 cup scalded milk (cooled)
- 2 tbsp s butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 tsp lemon rind
- 31/2 cups flour ( approx)
- Icing
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 tbsp milk
- Beat well. Spread over warm bread.
Preparation
Step 1
Put yeast cake to rise in Luke warm water to which the 1 tsp,sugar has been added. 15 mins.
Mix with other ingredients and set to rise until double in bulk. Two indent fingers stay in dough, means the dough has doubled.
Roll out in rectangular shape; spread with butter, sugar, cinnamon, and raisins. Roll as jelly roll. Put in tube pan; cut at intervals and set to rise. When double in bulk, bake at 375 for 30 minutes. Ice with thin icing.
