Italian Baked Eggs


This healthy and tasty Italian Baked Eggs recipe with marinara sauce, basil, parmesan and red pepper flakes makes a perfect breakfast or if you're like me, a nice lunch or dinner.

  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 ⁄4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 ⁄2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 ⁄4 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste, optional

Step 1

Place oven rack in the middle position and preheat to 350°F. (175°C).

Pour marinara sauce into a square baking dish or oven proof skillet and sprinkle with basil. Make 4 narrow wells and crack an egg into the center of each.

Sprinkle eggs with parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes (if using).

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until the egg whites are set and the yolks are desired doneness. Evenly divide sauce among 4 individual bowls and place an egg in each.
