Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Bake for 8 to 9 minutes
Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 C. Vegetable Shortening
- 1 C. Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 t. Vanilla
- 1/4 t. Salt
- 1/4 C. Sour Milk
- 1/2 C. Boiling Water
- 1 C. Raisins
- 1 t. Soda
- 2 C. Flour
- 2 1/2 C. Old Fashion Oatmeal (uncooked)

Preparation
Step 1
1. Cream Shortening and Sugar together until light and fluffy. Add Eggs, beat thoroughly after each Egg. Add Vanilla, Salt and Sour Milk.
2. Pour the Boiling Water over the Raisins and set aside for a few minutes. After the Raisins have plumped up with the water, drain off the water and discard it.
3. Add slowly to the Butter mixture. and now the final additions of Soda, Flour and Oatmeal. Blend until all is mixed well. Finally, fold in the Raisins, trying not to break them into small pieces.
4. Drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet.
