French Onion Sausage Dogs

Ingredients

  • 1 Large Onion, sliced
  • Olive Oil
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
  • 3 tablespoon Beef Broth
  • 4-6 Prepared Sausages (we used a bourbon bacon sausage and it was perfect!)
  • 4-6 Hot Dog Buns
  • 4-6 Slices of Gruyere Cheese
  • Chives, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

In a skillet, saute the onions in oil and butter. Let the onions cook down on medium heat and stir occasionally.

Once the onions appear brown in color, add the vinegar and beef broth. Cook until liquid is soaked and onions are soft (about thirty minutes).

While the onions are cooking, heat the sausages according to package directions. Place the sausages in the buns and melt cheese on top. Top with onion mixture and chives. Enjoy!
