Baked Apple Pie Roll Ups

Ingredients

  • Apple pie filling:
  • 10 slices white bread
  • 1 can apple pie filling ( or homemade- recipe to follow )
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 medium granny smith ( or cooking apple of choice )
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 / cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Step 1

Pre heat oven to 350. Cut the crusts off your bread and roll each slice flat with a rolling pin. Combine cinnamon and sugar on a plate. Poor the apple pie filling onto a plate and chop ( cut) into smaller pieces ( I did this step with the home made version as well ). Place about 1 tablespoon pie filling on each slice of bread and roll up. Dip each roll into the melted butter, and then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place seam side down on a parchment lined pan and bake 15 minutes or until browned and crispy. Serve warm with ice cream would be great. Also can drizzle caramel over.

Peel, core and slice apples. Melt butter and cinnamon over medium heat. Stir in apples, sugar and 3 tablespoons water. Cover and cook stirring occasionally for 4 - 6 minutes or until slightly softened. In a small dish combine cornstarch and water. Add to pan while stirring and continue to cook until apples are soft ( not mushy) and filling has thickened. Let bubble 1 minute. Cool
