Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 1 cup finely diced onion
  • 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Provolone, shredded
  • 1/2 cup part-skim Mozzarella, shredded
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 2 large egg
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef sirloin
  • 4 Tbs. milk or water (I’ve been using 3/4 c.)
  • (sprinkle of onion powder – optional)
  • 6 Tbs of brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1


Preheat oven to 425°.
Bake at 425 for 15 min.
Reduce heat to 365 and bake for an additional ½ hr. – 40 min.

* You can substitute Provolone with Mozzarella
