Ingredients

  • FOR BROWNIES:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter(2 sticks)
  • 12 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped coarsley
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • FOR CARAMEL:
  • 14 oz caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven at 350 degrees F.
Line a 9x13 inch baking pan, lined with foiled, sprayed with nonstick spray.
Combine butter,and chocolate in heatproof bowl, set over a pan of simmering water.
Heat, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth. (can do in microwave at 30 second intervals).
Remove from heat.
Whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well incorporated.
Stir in flour and salt, just until combined.
Spread half batter in pan, evenly.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven, let cool for 20 minutes.
To Make CARAMEL FILLING:
Combine caramels and heavy cream in medium sauce pan over medium/low heat.
Stir frequently until smooth and melted.
Immediately spread caramel over baked brownie layer.
Pour remaining brownie mix over caramel layer.
Sprinkle top with chocolate chips.
Bake 20 minutes.
Transfer to wire rack, let cool completely before serving.
