Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 packages or 4 /12 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2/3 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
  • 8 - 9 cups flour
  • 3 beaten eggs

Preparation

Step 1

Combine milk, 1/2 cup sugar, butter, and salt in saucepan. Heat over medium heat until butter melts. Allow to cool to lukewarm. While cooling, dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in warm water. Let stand for a few minutes. If it has not bubbled, start over with new yeast.

In bowl, combine 3 cups flour and milk. Beat on low 30 seconds. Add yeast, beat on high for 3 minutes. Add beaten eggs. Stir in remaining flour until soft dough forms. Should be sticky to touch. Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 hour. Punch down, turn out dough on lightly floured surface. Divide in half. Spray two 9 x 13 glass pans with Pam. roll first portion of dough into a rectangle; cut into 20 pieces using a pizza cutter. Place in pan; cover. Let rise 30 minutes. Preheat oven. Bake 15 - 18 minutes. Brush with butter when done.
