Ingredients
- For the kebabs:
- 1 lb. mixed ground meat (beef, lamb and/or pork)
- 1 onion, grated
- 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. ground coriander
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne
- 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp. chopped parsley
- 1 cloves minced garlic
- For the sauce:
- 4 small tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 clove minced garlic
- salt and pepper to taste
- For serving:
- Pita bread
- 450 g. Greek yogurt, plain
- butter
Preparation
Step 1
1. In a medium bowl, add the ground meat, onion, spices, parsley, garlic and salt/pepper.
2. Knead the mixture well and refrigerate for 1 hour.
3. Form meat mixture into long kebab and place a skewer in each.
4. Roast in a 375 degree oven for about 40 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a pan over medium heat and add the tomatoes, garlic, cinnamon, salt and pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
6. In another pan, melt some butter and heat the pita breads.
7. Serve kebab on warm pita bread with sauce and yogurt.
