Molasses Cakes

These are thick soft molasses cookies - great for dunking. The top coating, effected with egg yokes, is quite shiny.

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup Molasses
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups lard
- 5 tsp soda
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 7 cups flour (unsifted)
- 1/2 Tsp salt

Preparation
Step 1
Cream the sugar and lard thoroughly. Add molasses.
Mix soda with sour milk and add the sugar mixture alternating with flour and salt. Store overnight in a covered bowl in the refrigerator. In the morning drop from a table spoon onto a cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart.
Flatten slightly and brush with beaten egg yokes.
Bake in oven for 10 min at 375 Deg
