Great Grandma's Molasses Cookies


Several generations of my family remember the ever-full cookie jar of these classic cookies.

  • 1 C White Sugar
  • 1 C Brown Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 C Crisco
  • 1 C Molasses
  • 2 Tsp Baking soda
  • 1 Tsp Ginger powder
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 4 C Flour
  • 1/2 C Boiling Water

Preparation time 20mins
Cooking time 35mins


Step 1

Cream sugars, eggs, and shortening. Add molasses. Combine remaining dry ingredients then add to sugar mix alternating with water.

Drop by round tablespoon or teaspoon depending on size desired. They will spread on an ungreased cookie sheet. Cook at 350 for about 12 minutes. If you chill the batter first, it makes it easier to scoop.
