Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup chopped yellow onion
- 2 tbsp. chopped garlic
- 4 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. cane syrup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup worchestshire sauce
- 3 tbsp. hot red pepper sauce
- 2 tsp. Essence (Emeril's Creole Seasoning)
- 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes (or more to taste)

- 2 1/2 tbsp. paprika
- 2 tbsp. salt
- 2 tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 tbsp. black pepper
- 1 tbsp. onion powder
- 1 tbsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp. dried leaf oregano
- 1 tbsp. dried thyme
- combine all ingredients thoroughly and store in an air tight container*

Step 1
In a large pot heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring for 4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook, stirring for 1 minute. Add the ketchup, brown sugar, cane syrup, vinegar, mustard, worchestshire sauce, hot sauce, Essence and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened and the flavors marry, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
