Gobi (Cauliflower) Manchurian

and then stir fry with Manchurian sauce

Ingredients

  • Batter:
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 t salt
  • 1/4 t black pepper
  • Water about 1/2 cup and 2 T
  • 200-250 gms Cauliflower cut into small florets
  • and blanched in boiling water for 5 minutes after turning off the heat.
  • Sauce:
  • 2-3 T oil
  • 2 T tomato sauce
  • 1 T sambal olec chilli sauce or any chilli sauce
  • 1 T soya sauce
  • 1 T vinegar
  • 3-4 green onions chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 t chopped ginger
  • 1 t cornstarch in 1/4 cup water dissoved

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oil for frying at 350 degree F
Dip cauliflower in batter
fry till light brown; avoid overcrowding; drain the gobi and set it aside.

Heat 3 T oil
add garlic,ginger and green onions
saute for a minute
add the rest of the ingredients for the sauce except cornstarch and water
Stir in the gobi and stir fry till it incorporates the sauce
Add the cornstarch mixture and let the sauce thicken depending on your
choice of consistency; add water if it thickens too much.
Adjust seasoning to your taste
