Split pea soup- Pot

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups dried split peas
  • 2 quarts cold water (8 cups)
  • 1 1/2 pounds ham bone - do not put in for my family
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 tbsp vegetable stock
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 1 potato, diced

Preparation

Step 1

Add ingredients to boiling water.
Boil on medium low heat for 1 1/2 hours and then mix well and serve with cornbread or grilled cheese.
Can also do in crockpot all day on low or for 3 hours on high.
