Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 3 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vinegar
- 1/2 cup buttermilk

Step 1
Cream shortening and brown sugar. Beat in molasses. Sift in 1 1/4 cups flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Add vinegar. Alternately add buttermilk and remaining 2 1/4 cups flour. Mix well. Chill dough before rolling out and cutting.
Bake cookies at 350° for 10-12 minutes.
