Ingredients
- 8 cups sliced onions (approximately 4 large onions)
- 2 tsp salt
- 8 TBS butter
- 1 scant tsp garlic powder
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 thyme sprigs
- dash of red pepper flakes
Preparation
Step 1
Put all of your ingredients in a crockpot, with the butter cubed and distributed throughout.
Cook on "Low" heat for 8-10 hours. Stirring occasionally as needed.
Onions should be "melting" and tender. If at any time they look as if they're turning mushy or falling apart, remove from heat.
*Tip: Onions should look creamy the entire cooking time. If the crock looks dry before onions are done "melting", add a bit of cold water and stir.
