This recipe came from mom's old standard cookbook - Betty Crocker. I don't believe we have had a Christmas yet without at least one batch. These also freeze well.

Ingredients

  • 1

    cup butter, soften

  • 1/2

    cup sifted pd. sugar

  • 1

    tsp vanilla

  • 2 1/4

    cup sifted flour

  • 1/4

    tsp salt

  • 3/4

    cup chopped nuts

  • more powdered sugar

Directions

Mix together soften butter and 1/2 cup pd. sugar and vanilla. In seperate bowl sift together flour and salt. Stir this into butter mixture. Add nuts. Chill dough, then roll into 1" balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake till set, but not brown. Then roll in powdered sugar, cool, roll again.
