Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/8 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 one lb cans unsweetened cherries - save juice
  • Cherry Sauce
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cup cherry juice
  • pinch salt
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour, salt, and sugar. cut in butter till crumbly

Pat 2 1/2 cups on bottom of 9/13 pan

Drain cherries, save juice. Pat cherries on top of crumble; pat remaining crumble on top

Oven 375
Bake 30-35 minutes

Cherry Sauce
Add butter and sugar with cornstarch to cherry juice. Stir in salt and coloring. Bring to a boil cooking till thickened and clear. Add almond extract

Pour sauce over each serving
