Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Dash Tabasco sauce
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 pound Mozzarella or Provolone cheese
  • 1 and 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • Pinch Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz. cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 to to 8 oz. lasagna noodles

Preparation

Step 1

Heat salad oil in saucepan. Add beef and cook until brown. Remove beef. Add onion, celery and garlic to saucepan. Cook until tender, but not brown. Add Tabasco sauce, tomato sauce, water and seasonings. Simmer 10 minutes. Cook noodles 15 minutes in boiling water. Pour 1/2 cup of the cooked sauce into a 2 and 1/2-quart greased casserole. Alternate layers of noodles, meat, cottage cheese, Mozzarella and sauce until all ingredients are used. Top with Parmesan cheese. Bake in a 350° oven for 30 to 45 minutes.

This dish may be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator before baking.
