Makes 4 large rolls. Cut recipe in 1/2. That is plenty for xmas

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • Mix like pie crust
  • DISSOLVE
  • 2 Yeast
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • ADD
  • 4 well-beaten egg yolks (Keep egg whites)
  • REFRIGERATE OVERNIGHT
  • Egg white mixture
  • 4 well-beaten egg whites - Use a mixer and beat until stiff
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • (USE ALL OF EGG WHITE MIXTURE)
  • Nut mixture
  • 1 LB finely ground walnuts (I USED 3 pkg Fine Ground Walnuts - FLEET FARM)
  • 1 cup sugar PER 1LB OF NUTS

Preparation

Step 1

Mix ingredients like pie crust. Dissolve 2 yeast in 1 cup cold milk. Add well beaten egg yolks Refrigerate overnight Divide dough into 4 parts. Roll out and spread with the egg white mixture then top with nut mixture Roll
Put on greased cookie sheet and let rise for 2 hours
When cold frost with powdered sugar frosting
Oven 300-325 ck after 25 minutes)
